Hello Family!
Wow let me start off by saying dang haha that birthday was pretty sweet!! Totally not expected and weird to have the attention on me. Thank you so much for everything the guitar, the guitar book, the Easter gifts, the Cd's, everything was great. I had a really great night!! The Birthday book was awesome haha. I'm not gonna lie I cried a little bit and it was kinda depressing because im turning into dad hahahaha jk dad but it was truely touching to see all the people who care and love me. I already knew when I was coming on a mission that she and others would be getting married. The Lord knows his children and he knows what is best for them in their lives at the time they need it. That just means that it wasn't suppose to work out for us or any of the others girls that get married while I'm out here. It actually makes it easier when I get home knowing that those ones are definitely not the ones hahaha. To be quite honest I'm so stoked for anyone who gets married awhile I'm out here. The prophet told the RM's of the world to get with the program and get married haha so... The more I see get married the more I know people are following the Lords commandment which is a cool thing for me to see. And going to the temple is a HUGE blessing so getting there for anyone is amazing. Yesterday I actually hit my year mark from the temple. And the spiritual growth I've made in that years time is remarkable. I know that as I've had times in the last year of wanting to give up, wanting to throw in the towel and say I'm going home. That is were I made the most spiritual progress in this journey of life so far. The talks yesterday in our church were about the temple ( the temple president of Boston spoke) and I thought how funny it was that those were the topics a year from my entering date haha. I love the temple and I can't wait until the mission's combine so I can get back to the Boston temple. You know I think about it, the temple is literally Jesus Christ home... right so why would we not want to spend as much time there as possible haha. With temples so close we could make the time to visit the Lord more often then we do. I love how in the scriptures it never comes out and tells us to go to the temple. Because its a personal commitment and when you go out of sacrifice of your time the lord LOVES to bless us. But anyways haha the Guitar is sweet. I was told we can play on P-days here but in Boston its a no go or I would have bought one sooner :) but I'll try to take advantage of the P-day time I have to play. My foot is doing better, Last week I honestly thought I was going home because it felt like my other one when I snowboarded and it hurt haha. But the doctor gave me some shoes thingys and It seem to be doing better. It is awesome the ward seems to be picking up like crazy. With Elder Zwick coming and us really pushing missionary work we've gotten alot more members to bring friends over for us to teach, or just be there so their friends ask questions. But other then that we've done alot of tracking and finding over the last transfer and I'm going to step up my work more. Or take it to a new level if you will haha. I only have like a year or so left hahaha wow so I need to go out with a BANG. But that is all that is going on haha a couple solid "gators" I guess as my friends call them haha and some not so solid. But that is missionary work at least in New England.
quick story
So Elder McClellan and I are tracking this neighborhood by one of our members houses. We tract into this lady who has a Fatima Thing outside her house which usually means they speak Portuguese. So I knock and a lady answers the door and I start talking in English. I ask her what she thinks the purpose of life is. She then starts to struggle speaking English with us so I tell her we speak Portuguese. She then tells us what she thinks the purpose of life is. We tell her what it actually is and start talking about the B.O.M and she is pretty stoked about this book that talks more about Jesus Christ. She accepts the book and then I, trying to be a little more personal on the doors step, ask where she is from (in Portuguese) and she just looks at me and starts to cry a little bit. I then respond by saying are you from Portugal? She keeps crying making no motion to yes or no. I then ask if she is from the Azores. ( I knew she wasn't from Brazil by her accent) she nodded and then lost it and started bawling while slowly shutting the door on my face as i'm asking her if she is okay and if there is anything we can do to help. The door shuts and I'm just flabbergasted at what just happened. Haha weirdest door contact for me in a while. AND....... she didn't get baptised!!! haha sorry I wish I could have ended it with she did but.... were in the U.S :) hahahaha
I love you all,
Elder Burton
