September 6, 2011

Wow my family!!! First of all I'd like to say how much I love each and everyone of you! I truly do miss you on vacations here in the mission but I am WELL taking care of. This week was a great week. Some ups and downs of course but great none the less. We have been doing a lot of less active work which is kind of scary at times because I've noticed that the less actives are some of the hardest people to talk about the Gospel because there so negative and anti. But we have seen some success with it this last week. We met a kid named Lorenzo Neves ( snow in Portuguese) he lives with his gma from Portugal. He had been offended by one of the people in our ward because he likes anime ( Japanese stuff) and wears his hair kind of emo. He's a great kid and we talked to him about how this is were he needs to be and that Christ it the only perfect one so he should come back to church... and he did:) yay haha he even bore his testimony. It was great! Also this last week we had a service at the Red Cross making food for 500 people after the tropical storm. We made a lot of beef stew and I maned the oven... ( yes freakin hot) haha mom would have burned herself ;) jk Mom I love you. And you're an amazing cook! But anyways haha we met a less active lady there from another ward in R.I and she hadn't been going to church because of marriage problems so we said well you need to go to church it's not AS important were but you need to go and she did, to ours haha!! She talked to me in the hall and just explained everything with her husband and it was great to help her out by the spirit. Bad news is ZERO of our investigators showed up at church :( it was rough because Makkia is suppose to be baptised next week.... man man but we'll keep working for it.
Labor day was amazing in the field. haha not going to lie I wish you could have had my labor day.... We went ROCK CLIMBING!!! In the wild's gym. It was amazing and I got to go do all the Gymnastics's stuff like Trampoline and such... ( bustin double front flips and that jazz) It was amazing haha I got some pictures but I'm not sure they'll send today. But I'm wicked sore today not going to lie.

My study goal this week is to read though the whole new testament again. I almost through Mathew right now and I just love hearing about the miracles Jesus performed. I truly love my study of the scriptures and I encourage us to keep that part of our day regular. It truly does help overcome trials in our lives when we have the words of the prophets with us :) this is all this week I love you and I miss you but I aint done doin work yet...

Love, Elder Jonny Burton
