Hello,
First off I want to say that Sister Swan told me about Amanda and I've have prayed and fasted for her and I know she is going to be okay. The Lord will provided a way for her to over come this trial in her life right now. I love you Mae and you have people praying for you in R.I.
Okay so this week was really great.. We had a fantastic week. I truly love doing this work haha teaching the gospel is on of my all time favorite things to do know. Even if I'm not quite the best at explaining things all the time. We had a great week with Investigators.. The hard work is finally showing in this area. We will be having the Baptism of Makkia on the 25th. She is by far one of the smartest 9 year old I've met on my mission. She made it to church this last week and met with the Bishop. The Bishop is now going to go and introduce himself to her family and see what he can do about them coming to church. I think Makkia is a way to get that whole family into the church. It's great!!!! Also we are teaching 3 more little kids who want to be baptised. We taught them a 1st lesson yesterday and I truly believe with the leadership we have in this ward who are working with the youth, they will come into the church within the next 3 weeks or so :) And we have a date with a girl named Crystal who seems to be really solid. It's proof that when you do what the lords ask and you do it diligently he blesses you. The last few months in this area have been some of the funnest and best time on my mission. I love my companion and I love this ward! I now really honestly don't want to get transferred but because of that I probably will haha.
I went on tours this week with Elder Anderson of my district and it was a great tour. We taught 4 lessons that day which was really good haha he is from Idaho, Nampa area and had been out 7 months. He is a great kid and a hard worker. Being a district leader is a very rewarding calling in the mission because you get to know each person of your district very individually. I love working with good solid missionaries. My district is great and I love them.
Yesterday we ate at Sister Baptista's house.... and I told her I want her to cook for my family haha she made the best Kachupa (cape verdean stew) I have ever had. She has a son serving in the Ogden mission right now. She has the most amazing conversion story I've heard. She fed us so much haha I thought I was going to pop. I love how this church is a world wide family. Doesn't matter where you go you have loving members trying their best to be like Christ. I love walking the streets and seeing family's who are happy. I have seen so many family torn apart by the evil stuff of the world and I know now what I don't want to have in my own home. I'm so grateful for my mission because the things I learn here I COULD NOT have learned at college. I love you all my family and I'll be seeing you.... Until next Wednesday.
Love,
Elder Jonny Burton
